Self-Taught Realism Artist
Malaysia
Annies
Lee is a self-taught realism artist from Malaysia who has a Graphics Designing
Degree from Limkokwing Institute of Art and Technology (1999). She was raised
with the influence of a neighbor who were artist and fashion designer. Similar
to most others in her country, she chose to study Graphic Design but not fine art for the purpose of earning her daily bread and had put
aside her drawing pencil.
She returned from her creative hiatus which
lasted more than 25 years in 2015 for psychological release from her day to day
stress. Her first painting after her return was bought by a French collector and
another was bought by an American collector immediately after. This momentum
gave her the motivation to continue creating and now she is a full time artist
and does a lot of portrait drawings. Acrylic on canvas was her first medium and
she thereafter explored pastel and color pencil mediums as well.
Annies is also an ardent traveler and a amateur photographer which had been an inspiration for her to be creative in her work.
