Multi Skilled Nature Inspired Artist

Chandrika Shiromani is an artist who hails from the Central Region in Sri Lanka from a town called Mawathagama where she is employed as a teacher. She is inspired by the murals in ancient Sri Lanka during the Deraniyagala era and classic temple art.
She is a multi skilled painter who has exhibited her work extensively through the years. Her first solo exhibition was in 2001 which was held at Alliance Francoise du Colombo where her work was presented under the theme of 'Fruits and Flowers'. She exhibited 30 paintings at this event where she had displayed nature inspired paintings featuring Cashew, Jackfruit, Coconut, Bamboo, Palmyrah, Breadfruit etc. The paintings were equally appreciated by local and foreign art lovers.
She held her second painting exhibition at Alliance Francoise du Kandy in 2002 with over 30 exhibits and her third display show at the same venue in 2005 under the theme 'Flora and Fauna' which depicted the splendor of nature on paper medium. This is a theme which she has used on many occasions on art covers with decorative style paintings while getting the inspiration from ancient temple art.
Chandrika held another exhibition at the Alliance Francoise du Colombo in 2002 which was under a different theme. It was a clay pot art exhibition where she exhibited 50 of her gorgeous pottery painting of various shapes and sizes. She is a skilled pottery painter and for this exhibition, she used flowers, leaves and natural shapes and sizes as her inspiration.
She is also a skilled fabric painter and has contributed on many occasions to Kalapola, the annual art fair organized by the Geoge Keyt Foundation since 1993. She believes that her work can be easily understood and recognized by any individual which makes them close to their hearts.
