Internationally Recognized Line Artist
Sri Lanka
Gamini Abeykoon is an artist based in Sri Lanka whose paintings
were presented at local and international solo and collective exhibitions.
Inspired by the scenery and history of his native Sri Lanka, his intricate
works are created exclusively with pen and ink. His compositions are also
characterized by tints or colors which represent objects in two or three
dimensions.
Gamini was always most interested in drawing from his childhood
and drawing and painting made him absorbed in Sri Lankan comics and advertising
for years in his life. He was quite amused with the abandoned history and
classical sense of it. Once he started learning line drawings in black on white
surfaces, its rhythm and feel, matched well with his amusement. Gamini specializes in nature, wildlife, human figures, portraits, and historical
background sceneries.
