Sumith Fernando is a extremely gifted artist who creates paintings using
acrylic and black and white rotring pen. And also he is doing wall paintings by
using marker pens. From childhood he was very good at painting and during
school he showed more inclination towards it. When he was studying at Prince of
Wales College, his first teacher was Tissa Gunawardena, a famous art teacher.
With the pannaray from him, Sumith was able to work with Tissa Weerawardena, a
famous artist who is drawing paintings for large pandals after his school days,
for several years. It was only after that that he entered painting as a
profession. Now he is extremely
dedicated to his chosen profession. Sumith has no limit to his imagination. He is an impatient artist who
tries different strokes and has over 10 years of experience in his art career.
Currently
he is doing paintings and line drawings mainly inspired by nature and abstract.
He has been a part of Kalapola for over 3 years as well. Mr. Sumith has had a
stall in Colombo City Centre and he has been doing it over 3 years. But now he
is doing paintings from his own house and participate for exhibitions and fairs
locally as well.
