Inspirational Nature Inspired Cultural Artist
Sri Lanka
Nisansala Dilrukshi was born in rural Sri Lanka in a beautiful
village and had fallen in love with art from her childhood days. After her
secondary school, she got into University of Visual and Cultural Arts majoring
in drawing, landscaping, portraiture as well as watercolor, acrylic medium, oil
painting, etc. During this time Nisansala participated in several Annual Art
Exhibitions organized by the George Keyt Foundation and also took part in
Artway Street Art Exhibitions where her work was appreciated by both local and
foreign collectors.
After completing her university studies, she obtained her
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Visual Arts and joined a corporate institute for
employment and continued working with acrylic media on canvas and accepting
commission work for portrait drawings and wall art. She is currently employed
as an art teacher and on her free time, creates children's story books where
she does the writing and illustrations.
Nisansala's favorite medium is acrylics on canvas. In the use of color in paintings, my method is to create perspectives and three-dimensionality as color bars, creating art in a way that touches nature but is not natural. She will always try to showcase her Sri Lankan heritage in her paintings as much as she can in different themes which she believes to be her contribution towards taking her culture to the world stage.
