Sampath Koralage's art practice is a combination of modern and traditional arts. He is an art teacher by profession. He has passed a special degree in visual arts with a class pass from the University of the visual and performing Arts (Colombo Sri Lanka) with a focus on art history drawing and painting.
In addition to art history and painting, He has studied multimedia arts, visual communication, pottery, printmaking, and design. He has received awards for local and international art competitions.
He has passed the Diploma in Post Graduate Education from the University of Sri Lanka. He is currently pursuing his MPhil at the Post Graduate Institute of Archaeology. Between 2013-2014, he worked as an external lecturer at the University of Fine Arts. Several books on art have been published in print. His painting practice has been inspired by the techniques and forms of local traditional arts as well as art trends such as Impressionism, post-impressionism, Cubism, etc.
