Shem Melamari is artist from the beautiful Tanzania
who specializes in African Art. He is a child prodigy when it comes to art and
he had been developing his skill from his childhood days. He is a student of
his crafts and he is known to have adopted a style of his own, which has given
the African Art genre a whole new perspective.
In 2013, Shem decided to be a professional
artist and make a living by doing what he really loves which is painting. Therefore,
he chose to work professionally with his brother Emmanuel, who is also an artist
himself and an art teacher. Emmanuel owns and manages an art store in nearby Maasai Market in the city of Arusha and having such an establishment within the family was a
great support for Shem.
They chose to work together for the purpose of a unified objective and 8 years after they chose to collaborate, they have developed their reputation within Tanzania as well as in international markets. They heavily rely on the influx of tourists to Tanzania but their paintings have also been displayed around the world. This was possible as they broadened their vision in making their work available to international clientele as well through worldwide shipping.
