Swarna Abeytunge is a Chartered Secretary by profession who was graduated from the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, UK (ICSA-UK). She resides in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Until August 2021, Swarna worked as the Group Company Secretary of the Hayleys Group, a leading conglomerate in Sri Lanka. After Leaving Hayleys with 36 years of service, she immersed herself in painting, one of her long forgotten hobbies as she moved to her next phase in life.
Swarna being a Self-taught Artist, believes in artful diversity and her paintings consist of several styles, cultural to abstract and illustrated in her own style which aims to relax, inspire and capture emotions and moments.
She held her solo art exhibition, "Artful Blend" in Colombo, Sri Lanka at a prominent Art Gallery, 'The Lionel Wendt Art Centre' In July 2023 and also participated at 'Kalapola 2024', a leading annual Art Fair in Colombo, Sri Lanka which was organized by the 'George Keyt Foundation' in Association with the John Keels Group. She also featured on 'Sunday Times, a leading newspaper in Sri Lanka on 9th July 2023 for her talents in the art field. She has won several certificates for her artworks during her tenure at school. She was awarded with certificates by the National Youth Council in Sri Lanka for a 'Poster design' and for a 'Stamp design' in 1976 and 1977 respectively. Her paintings have been sent to various places in Sri Lanka, Singapore, UK, USA and Australia on sales and as gifts too. She has her online gallery by the name of "swapinthaaru'.
Art can be buried deep in your soul. It can lie dormant for years until a few thoughts bring it out. It is now in Swarna's life, her thoughts are being poured back into the canvas. Colors speak in many ways and enhance the vividness of the world. Swarna believes that her paintings too will converse with you through a visual language and touch your heart and soul. Her concepts are simple, nevertheless you may interpret them in a deeper mode.
