Floral Artist and Illustrator
Sri Lanka
I'm Thiloka Kariyupperuma. Floral artist and children's book illustrator. A
senior member of the "Ceylon Society Of Arts" and also a registered
artist of the "National Craft Council".
I'm an active illustrator of Room To Read - Sri Lanka since
2013 and also working with "IBMC Publications" as an illustrator.
Since I started my illustrating career, I was corporate with 19 books with my
illustrations.
I loved nature since I was a child. That why I choose
floral painting as my main subject. When it comes to flowers, it's like an
incomprehensible poem for me. I like to read and understand them. The colors,
shapes and textures of flowers are different from each other. They express a
variety of emotions and expressions. I prefer to convey that emotion towards my
paintings.
I was awarded as all Island first place for textile
painting in 2011, 2017, 2018 for the exhibition named "Shilpa
Abhimani" which is organized annually by the National Craft Council. In
2015 won the gold award for casual jewelry and hand painted wears , that
competition held by Sri Lanka Handicrafts Board.
One of my floral painting was selected to the 212 paintings in IMWA international watercolor floral art composition" Goddess of beauty".
