Cubist Girls Series The creator started this series in 2010 as a tribute to his mother, the day she passed away and he says he will continue the series until his last breath. The series has started with versions of sad women like Picasso's, with grotesque features and aggressive looks, but once he read his mother's diary, the characteristics of them became very strong, confident and turned them into beautiful women. As the creator explains, in each painting there are very personal symbols but generally the ornament they wear in their hair is what defines what each character is about. 'Cubist Girls' is a vibrant series of paintings by Ricardo Maya, to celebrate the motherhood and the universal language of their enormous love. It says the dragonflies are reminders that we are light and we can reflect light in powerful ways if we choose to do so: so as her dragonfly soul.
