Contemporary Artist

Sri Lanka

Amjath Ahamad is a contemporary figurative abstract artist deeply rooted in the agrarian rhythms of Akkaraipattu, a serene village in southeastern Sri Lanka. Surrounded by paddy fields, lakes, and mountains, his work transforms the textures of rural life into geometric abstractions, blending earthy tones of green, brown, and gray with striking accents of red and black. His landscapes, though abstracted, pulse with the vitality of his surroundings: birds, water, and the labor of farmers, reimagined through a prism of shapes and symbolic color.

Ahamad's accolades include awards from the State Art and Sculpture Festival (2024), the Inter Government Servants' Creative Skills Competition (2021), and the Eastern Provincial Literary Festival (Young Artist Award, 2021). His works have been featured in prestigious exhibitions such as Kala Pola (Colombo, 2012 to 2025) and international showcases like Art Artist Adda, where his pieces were selected among the top entries.

Balancing tradition and modernity, Ahamad's art is a lyrical homage to his homeland, bridging the tangible and the abstract with quiet mastery.
