In the home of husband-and-wife duo Janaka and Chamarie, a painting of a bullock cart at sunset reminds Chamarie of her childhood. This memory captures the spirit of Aartzy — a platform created to celebrate Sri Lankan art and share its stories with the world.
Aartzy began when Janaka met a painter selling art on a rainy street. Seeing the artist struggle to protect his work and earn a living, Janaka was inspired to create a platform where Sri Lankan artists could showcase their talents without hardship.
Today, Aartzy brings together Sri Lankan painters, sculptors, photographers, and crafters, giving them global exposure at no cost. Janaka personally helps artists digitize and present their work, making art accessible to buyers worldwide.
With nearly 30 years experience in business, Janaka combines research and data insights to make Aartzy more than an online gallery — it’s a bridge between artists and those seeking a meaningful piece of Sri Lanka to take home.
"Art is deeply personal," Janaka says. "When you bring it into your space, you connect with the artist’s story. That’s the human connection we want to create."
