Nilusha Weerakkody

Award Winning Artistic Expressionist

Sri Lanka

A cross-section of contemporary society is subjected to his art pieces. He removes the common "Human Figure" from his art, focusing on the "Material World" resulting from human activities. He prefers to paint "close-ups" imprinting the fine details in them. Experienced as a fashion designer and a graphic designer, he holds a high level of characteristic discipline and professionalism that is also visible in his art.

He does not limit his expressions to local traditions or cultural identity but considers only the need for expression. His artwork's materialistic nature and features symbolize readable "Icons" of contemporary human needs, wishes, and requirements. His "Materialistic Space" of warm and sensuous colors closely relating to worldly desires, should be read with an open mind.
