Ancient Treaty

An important time in the history of Sri Lanka portrayed in this time freeze capturing a host of aristocrats from the Kandyan kingdom standing witness to the signing of the treaty between their long-lasting stronghold and the British Empire during the Kandyan Convention held in the year 1815.

The creator exquisitely sketched the detail of each of the subjects in this painting and applied beautiful color to fill the canvass with the emotion and pride representing the two kingdoms that feature at this occasion. A true testimony to the greatness of the Kandyan contingent and their opposing counterparts is drawn through an ambience of royalty brought through this work of art.
