Cloudy Sails

In this piece, a large ship sails towards the viewer while the acrylic sky in the background reflects the gloomy, foggy nature of the ship's voyage. Shades of gray, brown and blue take up the canvas in splashes and smudges creating a foggy, cloudy atmosphere that spreads across the painting. The sea too echoes the cold, choppy color palette as the only bright colors are those of the vessel reflected in the water's surface.

The large white sails melt into the background in large, cloud like smudges- making it seem as though the ship is surfacing out of its cloudy surroundings. Meanwhile a flock of white seagulls flies toward the viewer, acting as a compass for the ship's course.
