The artist uses a gradient of color in this piece as the sky turns from ashy blue to dark midnight to golden yellow creating a sequence of sunset as the night sky looms from above. Sweeps of grey mark the clouds that move towards the center, adding to the darkening sky. In the distance a flock of birds flies towards the darkening horizon amidst the white sails of distant boats.
